Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.
