Vehicles in German Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were contacted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.

City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.

An important political figure commented the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
